Amazon has announced the integration of its Luna cloud gaming service into the Prime Video platform, aiming to transform Prime Video into a comprehensive entertainment hub. This integration allows Prime members to access a variety of games directly through the Prime Video app, starting with Fire TV devices in the U.S. and U.K.
The initial game lineup includes popular titles such as “Hogwarts Legacy,” “EA Sports FC 26,” “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Clue,” and “Taboo.” Additionally, Amazon’s own gaming division contributes exclusive titles like “Courtroom Chaos” and the cooperative card battler “Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite.”
Previously, Luna’s games were accessible only through its standalone app available to Prime members. With this integration, games are now featured alongside movies and TV shows within the Prime Video app, streamlining the user experience. Prime members can navigate to the new “Games” tab and start playing using a controller or their smartphone.
Jeff Gattis, Amazon’s general manager of gaming, emphasized the company’s commitment to making gaming more accessible. He noted that integrating Luna into Prime Video allows members to discover and play games more naturally, reducing the time spent searching and increasing time spent enjoying games included with their Prime membership.
Amazon plans to expand this feature to additional devices and countries in the coming months, with new games added to the library every month. This move reflects Amazon’s strategy to remove barriers to gaming, making it as easy to access as movies or TV shows, and catering to a broader audience without the need for expensive consoles or gaming PCs.
By integrating Luna into Prime Video, Amazon is positioning itself as a formidable competitor in the entertainment industry, offering a seamless blend of streaming content and interactive gaming. This approach not only enhances the value of a Prime membership but also aligns with the growing trend of merging various forms of digital entertainment into unified platforms.
