WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to save a contact’s username when adding their name and phone number. This addition places the username field between the first and last name fields and the phone number section, streamlining the contact-saving process.
To add a new contact in WhatsApp, users can tap the ‘+’ button in the navigation bar of the Chats tab. With the new update, when usernames become more widely available, WhatsApp will automatically populate the username field when users create a new contact from the chat info screen.
This development follows WhatsApp’s recent rollout of the username feature, which enables users to reserve unique usernames. This feature allows users to be contacted via their username instead of their phone number, enhancing privacy by reducing the need to share personal phone numbers.
By integrating the username field into the contact-saving process, WhatsApp aims to provide a more seamless and secure user experience. This update reflects the platform’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user privacy and convenience.
