IQOO just unveiled its Neo 12, a mid-range phone packed with hardware that rivals flagships from last year. Although it’s officially aimed at upper mid-range buyers, the spec sheet leans decidedly high-end.
Power Under the Hood
The Neo 12 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5—the same chip used in the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra—backed by a physical cooling system that includes an active fan with 59 blades and a “3D Ice Dome” vapor chamber. Keeping temperatures down during gaming or heavy use is clearly a priority.
Display & Battery Features
On the front sits a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel that delivers 2K resolution, reaches up to 2,200 nits of peak brightness, and supports both DC dimming and 2,160Hz PWM dimming to protect the eyes. Gamers will appreciate the 185Hz refresh rate, specialized display chip for extra responsive touch, and a super-sensitive gyro for precise motion control.
The Neo 12 doesn’t cut corners on endurance either: inside is a massive 9,000mAh battery, paired with 100W wired charging. Other extras include an IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, stereo speakers, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and an infrared sensor.
Cameras, Memory, and Pricing
The camera setup features a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 16MP selfie shooter. Physically, the phone’s back sports a raised camera island and it comes in three finishes: Contender, Frost Blade Blue, and Shadow Black.
In China, Neo 12 is available now in multiple RAM/storage options, priced from CNY 4,199 (~US $630) up to CNY 6,299 (~US $945) for the top-tier 1TB model. The variants include 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. An international rollout has not yet been confirmed.
What Sets It Apart
Notably—that despite including an active fan—the Neo 12 still carries an IP69 rating, shielding it against extreme water and dust exposure. It also supports advanced display dimming options and ultra-high motion responsiveness, ticking many of the features typically seen in much more expensive phones.
Priced as a mid-range device—but spec’d more like a flagship in some areas—IQOO’s Neo 12 aims to bridge the gap between affordability and high performance.
Whether you’re gaming, streaming, or shooting photos, this phone packs capabilities that challenge the idea that you need to spend over $1,000 to get flagship-level power.
Why It Matters
With this launch, IQOO continues a trend of delivering premium specs at more accessible prices, forcing competitors to raise their value arc. The real test will be how and when Neo 12 makes it to global markets, how strong its software support will be, and how well the cooling and battery hold up in long-term use.
