Apple Releases iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 Release Candidates

Apple has distributed the release candidate versions of iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 to developers, signaling the final testing phase before the public release. This update arrives a week after the fifth beta versions were made available.

Developers registered with Apple can access these release candidates by navigating to the Settings app on their iPhone or iPad, selecting the General section, and choosing Software Update.

As the launch of iOS 27 approaches in September, Apple is finalizing the iOS 26 series. The release notes for iOS 26.6 indicate that the update focuses on security enhancements and optimizes the Spotlight index in preparation for the upcoming iOS 27.

While no major new features are introduced in this update, the emphasis on security and performance improvements underscores Apple’s commitment to providing a stable and secure user experience. Users can anticipate a smoother transition to iOS 27, with the groundwork laid by these refinements.
