Apple has released the fourth developer beta of macOS Golden Gate, marking another step toward the operating system’s official launch. This update arrives two weeks after the third beta, continuing the refinement process.
Developers can access the new beta by navigating to System Settings > General > Software Update, ensuring that Beta Updates are enabled. A free developer account is required for the download.
macOS Golden Gate introduces several design enhancements aimed at improving user experience. The Liquid Glass interface now features adjustable opacity settings, allowing users to fine-tune transparency for better readability. Additionally, refined shadowing techniques make it easier to distinguish active windows. Application interfaces have been standardized with uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and reduced corner rounding. The menu bar has also been streamlined by reducing the number of icons.
A significant update in this beta is the transformation of Siri into Siri AI, a chatbot-style assistant that integrates general knowledge with personal data and on-screen context. This evolution enables Siri to provide more comprehensive answers and perform tasks based on user queries. Siri AI is accessible through Spotlight’s new Search or Ask interface, and a dedicated Siri app allows users to engage in conversations and review past interactions. On newer Mac models, users can customize Siri’s voice, adjusting pace and expressiveness to their preference.
Visual Intelligence has been incorporated into the Mac, enabling Siri to interpret and respond to on-screen content. The new ‘Write with Siri’ feature assists users by generating text or offering feedback on their writing. The Photos app now includes AI-driven editing tools, while Safari benefits from AI-powered tab organization. The Passwords app offers an option to automatically update weak passwords using AI, enhancing security. Additionally, the revamped Image Playground app can generate photorealistic images, showcasing the integration of AI capabilities across the system.
These updates underscore Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience through design improvements and advanced AI integration.
