Apple Poised to Drop Siri-Powered Apple TV This Fall

Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil a refreshed Apple TV set-top box this fall that will introduce much deeper AI integration thanks to its new Siri upgrades. The anticipated release comes after delays caused by Apple Intelligence development and a broader tech strategy shift that has paused several hardware projects.

Hardware Upgrades on the Horizon

Sources suggest the new Apple TV will move beyond the current A15 chip (which has powered the 2022 model) to an A19 or A19 Pro processor. While that isn’t as cutting-edge as Apple’s A20 generation, it would represent a notable leap, particularly when paired with increased RAM—it’s expected to offer up to 12GB to support more intensive tasks like gaming and local AI processing. Additional improvements may include a redesign of the Siri Remote.

Siri AI: The Centerpiece of the Update

The upcoming hardware refresh is being timed to align with the full rollout of Apple Intelligence. Key features will include enhanced Siri AI capabilities that allow for more natural interactions. Another highlighted feature is the ability to analyze HomeKit Secure Video recordings locally using AI, boosting user privacy by keeping sensitive data off the cloud.

With a wave of other smart-home devices, including a rumored Home Hub tablet, having been delayed, the Apple TV update could serve as a signal of Apple’s broader move to make AI the backbone of its Home ecosystem. Whatever the launch format—an event or a video announcement—the new Apple TV is expected by November at the latest.

What Remains Unclear

Price points are likely to stay in line with current models—around $199 and $249—but nothing has been confirmed. It’s also uncertain how much of the upgraded AI processing will happen on the device versus in the cloud, as well as whether the remote will undergo more extensive changes or just a feature refresh to match the Apple Intelligence rollout.

Apple TV isn’t its highest-profile product, but this upgrade could give it renewed importance—not just as a streaming box, but as a hub for smart-home AI features. With the industry moving rapidly toward integrating AI everywhere, this could be Apple’s bid to stay competitive in both voice assistants and home automation. If the rumors hold, the coming weeks could see Apple pulling the trigger.
