Samsung is broadening its One UI 9 beta program—based on Android 17—to include its 2025 flagship devices. The rollout follows earlier testing on the Galaxy S26 lineup and comes months ahead of a stable release.
What’s Being Added
Starting this September, select Galaxy phones will become eligible for the One UI 9 beta. Newly included devices are the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and S25 FE, along with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 foldables. These additions expand Samsung’s beta group beyond the S26 series, which has already been testing Android 17 for a few months.
How to Join & Where
The beta program will be opt-in via the Samsung Members app. It will roll out in several key markets—including India, Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. While Samsung hasn’t given specific dates, September has been confirmed as the launch window for these new devices.
One UI 9 is already available out of the box on newer devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold8 series and the Flip8. The expansion to older models suggests the final release is getting closer, as more devices are brought under testing. The growing beta audience helps Samsung identify bugs and hardware compatibility issues ahead of a wide public launch.
The timing aligns with Samsung’s usual cadence: after major flagships like the S-series have beta access, foldables and older flagships follow. Adding the S25 FE is notable because Samsung’s “Fan Edition” line often straddles mid- and high-end categories; if for it One UI 9 delivers promised features such as improved multitasking, AI enhancements, and updated core apps, it could impact a broader swath of users.
As always, beta software carries risks. Early testers should expect bugs and performance quirks, and should back up data before enrolling. Users in the eligible markets will need to check the Samsung Members app for availability and know that certain features may vary by device.
