iPhone 18 Pro Models May See Price Hikes Up to $300

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models are anticipated to be priced $250 to $300 higher than their predecessors, the iPhone 17 Pro series. This potential increase is attributed to escalating costs of advanced components, particularly the transition to 2nm silicon chips and rising prices for DRAM and NAND memory, as reported by analyst Jeff Pu of GF Securities.

Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099, while the Pro Max begins at $1,199. If these projections hold, the iPhone 18 Pro models could see starting prices ranging from $1,349 to $1,499. Such a significant price adjustment may lead to consumer hesitation, prompting Pu to downgrade Apple’s stock rating from ‘buy’ to ‘hold’.

In June, Apple increased prices across various product lines, including iPads, Macs, HomePods, Apple TV, and the Vision Pro, citing global component shortages driven by the expansion of AI infrastructure. Notably, iPhone models were exempt from these hikes at that time. However, the anticipated cost increases for the iPhone 18 Pro series suggest that Apple may now extend price adjustments to its flagship smartphones.

Apple’s forthcoming product lineup is expected to include the iPhone 18 Pro models and its first foldable iPhone, projected to be priced above $2,000. The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are slated for a spring 2027 release.

As Apple continues to integrate cutting-edge technology into its devices, the associated production costs inevitably rise. While consumers have historically shown willingness to pay premium prices for Apple’s innovations, the extent of these anticipated price increases could test market elasticity. It remains to be seen how these adjustments will impact consumer demand and Apple’s competitive positioning in the high-end smartphone market.
