As the United States embarks on a significant expansion of its infrastructure, the complexity of regulatory compliance has become a pressing challenge. Dili, a startup specializing in AI-driven compliance solutions, has recently secured $15 million in Series A funding, bringing its total capital raised to $21.7 million. This funding aims to streamline compliance processes for large-scale construction projects, particularly those receiving federal funding.
The Series A round was led by Khosla Ventures, with contributions from Allianz, Rebel Fund, Brick and Mortar Ventures’ Darren Bechtel, and Y Combinator’s Garry Tan. Dili, a participant in Y Combinator’s Summer 2023 batch, focuses on automating compliance with intricate regulations such as the Davis-Bacon Act, which mandates prevailing wage standards for federally funded projects, and the prevailing wage and apprenticeship (PWA) requirements under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for clean energy initiatives.
Non-compliance with these regulations can result in substantial fines, making accurate and efficient compliance management essential. Dili’s platform utilizes AI to process and analyze vast amounts of unstructured data from internal documents, vendor records, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and payroll information. By converting this data into structured formats, Dili enables real-time compliance checks, significantly reducing the time and labor traditionally required for these tasks.
Currently, Dili’s software is deployed across approximately 700 projects, including manufacturing facilities and data centers. The company offers both in-house software solutions and outsourced compliance services, catering to the diverse needs of the construction industry. CEO Anand Chaturvedi anticipates a shift towards in-house software adoption as AI continues to transform professional services workflows.
The integration of AI into compliance management represents a pivotal advancement for the infrastructure sector. By automating complex regulatory processes, companies like Dili not only enhance efficiency but also mitigate the risk of costly penalties. As infrastructure projects proliferate, the demand for such innovative solutions is expected to grow, underscoring the importance of AI in modernizing industry practices.
