Apple Grabs Record 50% Slice of Global Smartphone Revenue in Q3 2026

Apple has reached a new milestone: in Q3 2026, the company secured half of the world’s smartphone revenue—a record high for the third quarter, according to Counterpoint Research. This comes as the iPhone average selling price (ASP) hit $1,031, up 19% year over year, driving much of that revenue surge.

Market Share Breakdown & ASP Drivers

While Apple claimed 50% of global smartphone revenue, rival brands lagged significantly. Samsung ranked second with 19%, followed by Xiaomi at 6%, OPPO at 5%, and vivo at 4%. Despite strong revenue, Apple’s shipment share was nearly tied with Samsung—22% vs. 21%, respectively.

Several factors pushed Apple’s ASP to its highest point ever. The launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series—despite its late-quarter debut—played a central role, as did the decision not to release the base iPhone 18 during the launch. Price hikes on older models in September also contributed, and Apple proved resilient against rising memory costs, managing to shift those costs to consumers with minimal demand loss.

Performance in a Tough Market

Counterpoint notes that Apple’s Q3 2026 shipments were largely flat year over year—a notable feat in a smartphone market still grappling with soft demand and supply chain bottlenecks. That stability, paired with strong ASP gains, allowed Apple to drive revenue growth even as the broader industry faced headwinds.

This record-setting quarter suggests that Apple’s premium strategy—focusing on high-end hardware and incremental pricing power—continues to pay off. With competitors further down the pricing ladder, Apple’s ability to sustain ASP growth could become more crucial, especially as global economic uncertainty persists.
