Apple Appoints Nate Gatten as VP of Government Affairs

Apple has appointed Nate Gatten, a seasoned executive from American Airlines, as its new Vice President of Government Affairs, effective August 31. Gatten will report to Jennifer Newstead, Apple’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

Gatten’s background includes leading government affairs at American Airlines since 2017, with prior experience at JPMorgan Chase and Fannie Mae. His appointment aligns with Apple’s strategic efforts to strengthen its engagement with the current U.S. administration.

This leadership change follows the retirement of Lisa Jackson, who had overseen Apple’s government affairs since 2013. Katherine Adams, Apple’s legal chief, temporarily assumed Jackson’s responsibilities and is set to retire later this year.

Additionally, Tim Cook, stepping down as CEO on September 1, will continue to engage with policymakers globally in his new role as executive chairman.

Gatten’s appointment underscores Apple’s commitment to navigating complex regulatory landscapes and fostering relationships with government entities, which is crucial for the company’s ongoing operations and expansion.
