Tata Electronics, a key manufacturing partner for Apple, has recently confirmed a cybersecurity incident that reportedly led to the exposure of confidential documents from both Apple and Tesla. The cyberattack was orchestrated by a group known as World Leaks, which claims to have stolen and leaked over 200,000 files totaling more than 630 gigabytes.
The compromised data allegedly includes sensitive information such as component design documents, manufacturing specifications, emails, and employee records. Notably, some files bear Apple’s proprietary markings, including a 52-page document detailing quality inspection standards for iPhone circuit board components. Additionally, there are references to Tata’s main iPhone assembly plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
While Tata Electronics has stated that the incident has had no impact on its operations, the breach raises significant concerns about the security of intellectual property within the global supply chain. Apple is reportedly conducting a thorough analysis of the situation, though the authenticity of the leaked documents has yet to be independently verified.
