The newly released HomePod mini 2 is the first of Apple’s smart speakers to clearly support Siri AI. It’s powered by an upgraded S10 chip, replacing the older S5, and can draw on a paired iPhone or iPad enabled with Apple Intelligence to access personal context and assist the user. But that’s not where the story might end.
Clues recently spotted on Apple’s website suggest that full-size HomePods—especially the second-generation models—could also receive Siri AI support. A leaker named pdfu noticed several details that hint in this direction.
Visual & Alt-Text Signals
On the Apple site, images of the larger HomePod 2 showed its top light glow updated to match the multicolored, gradient style seen on the HomePod mini 2 when using Siri AI. This glow dressing had not previously been part of the full-size speaker’s presentation. Alongside that, the alt-text for one of the images described the top of the HomePod 2 as featuring a “multi-colored Siri AI glow.” These design shifts strengthen the possibility that a Siri AI update may be in the works for full-size models.
What’s Confirmed — and What’s Still Guesswork
The only HomePod that formally gains Siri AI is the mini 2, and Apple has indicated that even that feature won’t be active immediately—it depends on pairing with devices running its latest Apple Intelligence-enabled software. For full-size HomePods, there’s nothing official yet—no announcement, no confirmed roadmap. The presence of matching glow graphics and descriptive alt-text offers strong visual cues, but they could just as easily be artifacts of preparatory marketing work or premature uploads.
It’s worth noting that updates of this kind often come with caveats. Apple has a history of limiting newer features to recent hardware, potentially reserving Siri AI for only second-generation full-size HomePods if this pans out.
As for why this matters: Siri AI is central to Apple’s latest push to deepen its service revenue through AI-powered features. Allowing full-size HomePods, beyond the mini line, to tap into that capability could broaden the user base and solidify Apple’s place in the smart speaker market. Whether or not the site’s changes herald an imminent rollout, this is a development worth watching closely.
