Samsung is set to enhance its Galaxy Buds lineup with a new feature designed to assist users with hearing impairments. The company has secured clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a hearing aid functionality that will be integrated into select models of its wireless earbuds.
This upcoming feature comprises two main components: ‘Hearing Test’ and ‘Hearing Aid.’ The ‘Hearing Test’ is a self-administered assessment that identifies specific hearing deficiencies in users. Based on the results, the ‘Hearing Aid’ function customizes sound amplification to address individual needs, focusing on frequencies and sounds that the user finds challenging to hear. This includes enhancing high-frequency sounds, whispers, and distant voices, thereby improving overall auditory perception.
In addition to personalized amplification, the ‘Hearing Aid’ feature incorporates advanced technologies commonly found in premium hearing aids. These include noise elimination and beamforming capabilities, which help concentrate on sounds directly in front of the user while suppressing background noise. Such enhancements aim to provide a clearer and more focused listening experience in various environments.
The rollout of this feature is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 and will be available exclusively on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro models. Initially, the feature will be accessible to users in the United States and other select markets where regulatory approvals have been obtained.
