Samsung has officially revealed which Galaxy phones and tablets will receive the Android 17-based One UI 9 update. While the deployment has already begun in some regions, the company says Japan will see most of the listed devices upgraded between October and November 2026. Entry-level models elsewhere may wait until December or even January. The full list reflects announcements specific to Japan, though Samsung expects it to largely match the global rollout.
What’s Included (and What’s Missing)
The update covers a wide range of current and recent high-end, mid-range, and tablet devices. Key flagship families like the Galaxy S-series—all variants of the S26, S25 Ultra, S24 Ultra, and S24 FE—are confirmed recipients. Foldables including Galaxy Z Fold 5, Fold 6, Fold 7, and Flip 5–7 are also on track. On the mid-range front, devices such as the Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36, and A25 make the list.
Tablets are well covered, too. All flagship Tabs—including Tab S11/Ultra, Tab S10 variants (S10, S10+, S10 Ultra, S10 FE/+, S10 Lite)—alongside the Tab S9 series (S9, S9+, Ultra, FE/+) are included. Lower-end models like the Tab S6 Lite (2024), Tab A11/A11+ (5G), and the rugged Tab Active 5 Pro are also slated for the update.
Some devices you might expect aren’t listed—especially “Plus” versions of recent Galaxy S-series phones, and several Galaxy A-series devices from outside the list. Samsung hasn’t clarified whether those are simply omitted from the Japan-specific announcement or genuinely excluded from the update program.
Timeline & Global Rollout Expectations
In Japan, the rollout for those listed begins this October and stretches through November 2026. Globally, Samsung plans a broader rollout in that period as well, with most major models getting One UI 9 by year’s end. Entry-level or less prominent devices may see delays into December or early 2027.
One UI 9 launched initially with the Galaxy S26 series back in September. Since then, it has gradually expanded to include various recent Galaxy phones. This confirmed list gives clarity about what’s still to come. Still, watch for Samsung to publish further updates—especially for regions outside Japan and for models omitted so far.
What this means: Samsung’s announcement reinforces its commitment to updating a broad swath of current and recent Galaxy devices. For owners, the message is reassurance—for flagships, foldables, and even many mid-tier and budget tablets, Android 17/One UI 9 is coming. But there’s uncertainty in the details: some models not listed may be waiting for inclusion, while region-by-region timing will vary significantly.
