Samsung Ends S Pen Sales for Foldables, Signaling Further Shift Away from Stylus Support

Samsung has recently ceased sales of the S Pen stylus for its foldable smartphones, marking another step in the company’s gradual move away from stylus support. This decision affects the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, the primary foldable models that still supported the S Pen after the Galaxy Z Fold 7 eliminated stylus compatibility in pursuit of a slimmer design.

The S Pen has been a defining feature of Samsung’s devices, particularly in the Galaxy Note series and later in the Galaxy S Ultra models. Its integration into the Galaxy Z Fold series provided users with a larger canvas for note-taking and creative tasks. However, the removal of S Pen support in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, attributed to design considerations, left the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Fold 5 as the remaining foldables with stylus functionality.

With the discontinuation of S Pen sales for these models, Samsung no longer offers a stylus option for its foldable devices. Notably, the S Pen designed for the Galaxy S Ultra series is incompatible with foldable screens, leaving users without a viable stylus solution for their foldable smartphones.

Additionally, Samsung has stopped selling spare S Pens for all previous-generation Galaxy devices, with the only available stylus being the one designed for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. While it’s possible that Samsung may restock these products in the future, their current unavailability underscores the company’s shifting focus away from stylus support in its product lineup.

This move raises questions about the future of the S Pen and stylus functionality in Samsung’s devices. As the company prioritizes design innovations and device slimness, the role of the S Pen appears to be diminishing. Consumers who value stylus input may need to consider alternative devices or adapt to Samsung’s evolving product strategy.
