Rocket Money Unveils Rowan, a Text-Based Financial AI Assistant

Rocket Money has launched Rowan, a conversational financial assistant designed to work directly through your text messages rather than through a traditional app interface. Built to go beyond budgeting tools and expense trackers, Rowan connects with your actual financial accounts and takes actionable steps like canceling unwanted subscriptions or negotiating bills for you when you prompt it.

What Rowan Does Differently

Unlike generic chatbots that can only offer advice, Rowan is embedded into the Rocket Money platform used by over 10 million people. Instead of forcing users to start from scratch, it leverages Rocket Money’s existing systems for subscription cancellation and bill negotiation. Rowan monitors your finances behind the scenes and delivers alerts when it spots issues like low balances, newly added subscriptions, or rising bills.

Every week, it sends a summary of spending and budget trends through text. In between, it sends automated alerts—you’ll get notified when your balance dips, when new subscriptions appear, or when recurring charges increase. If you see something you want to act on, you just have to text back.

Hands-Off Financial Tasks, One Text Away

Rowan isn’t just informative—it also lets you initiate tasks via simple texts. Want to cancel a subscription you no longer use? Text it. Spot a bill that’s gone up and want to negotiate? Rowan triggers Rocket Money’s team to do that for you. You can also set reminders—like paying your credit card or other financial deadlines—using Rowan, without touching your calendar app.

Pricing and Availability

Rowan is available now in the U.S. Users can download the Rocket Money app for free and use features like basic budgeting, expense tracking, subscription monitoring, and balance alerts. The standard Premium tier costs between $7 and $14 monthly on a “pay what you think is fair” model. Access to Rowan requires a new Premium+ plan, which is priced at $15/month and gives full conversational control over finances via text messaging.

This launch arrives at a time when many consumers are overwhelmed by app fatigue and the fragmented landscape of finance tools. By keeping everything in text messages—something most people already use daily—Rowan lowers the barrier to smarter financial behavior. It also builds on Rocket Money’s existing infrastructure, giving the assistant credibility and immediate usefulness from day one.
