Motorola Signature 27: $1,599 Flagship Unveiled with 7,000 mAh & 200 MP Zoom

Motorola has officially re-entered the high-end smartphone arena by unveiling the Signature 27—a no-compromises flagship launching in the US November 19, priced at $1,599. Pre-orders go live today. It delivers top-tier specs, the kind rarely seen from Motorola stateside, positioning it firmly against other premium devices globally.

Cutting-edge hardware all around

Under the hood, the Signature 27 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. Its display is a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo—also called Tandem OLED—with a resolution of 2772×1272, peak brightness reaching 12,000 nits, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protection, and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. To keep temperatures in check, it adds an “ArcticMesh” vapor chamber cooling system infused with diamond thermal gel. The panel tech itself is said to use 34% less energy and last 121% longer than typical OLED screens.

Performance-wise, the phone includes 12 GB RAM with a “12 GB RAM Boost” plus 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. It packs a massive 7,000 mAh battery, supports 90 W wired charging and wireless charging (50 W on Motorola’s own charger; others capped at roughly 15 W). Notably, the wireless charging lacks Qi2 compatibility.
Durability features include IP68/IP69 ratings. Software is Android 17 out of the box, with Motorola promising 7 years of OS and security updates. GrapheneOS compatibility is also confirmed.

Impressive camera setup & Gemini Intelligence

The camera system stacks up impressively: 50 MP main sensor (Sony Lytia L910 with “LOFIC” enhancements), a 50 MP ultrawide lens covering 122°, a 200 MP periscope telephoto with true 3× optical zoom and support for up to 100× hybrid zoom, plus a 50 MP front shooter. Motorola has added a dedicated EVS action sensor to boost video sharpness on fast-moving subjects using an “Action Shot” mode.

On software capabilities, the Signature 27 isn’t just about specs. It’s the first non-Pixel device in the US to embrace Gemini Intelligence features fully: Gboard Rambler, “Create My Widget,” app automation, and Sign-To-Text ASL translation are included right out of the box.

Release details & extras

Only one variant—12 GB RAM / 512 GB storage—is coming to the US, available in “Coal Smoke” or “Capulet Olive” colors. It’s being sold unlocked, with no carrier deals confirmed yet. Buyers who pre-order directly from Motorola will receive perks: a Moto Watch Ultra (Wear OS) and one year of extended warranty via Motorola’s “motocare.” There are no Canadian launch plans at this time.

Though this isn’t Motorola’s first flagship effort, its all-round spec sheet—including powerhouse cameras, massive battery, and premium materials—marks a significant leap for the brand. The Signature 27 aims to blend hardware muscle with long-term software support and high durability.

What this means: Motorola is pushing back into the top tier, not just by raising spec bars but by aligning with what power users expect from premium phones—massive batteries, long-haul durability, cutting edge cameras, and meaningful software longevity. The $1,599 price is steep, but the extras like GrapheneOS compatibility, Gemini software features, and first-class display and camera tech make it intriguing. The real test will be how the Signature 27 holds up in actual use—battery life under load, reliability, and how strong Motorola’s update cadence proves over the promised 7 years. This could be the phone that challenges giants, if execution matches ambition.
