Lutron has expanded its Caséta smart home system by integrating with Sonos Voice Control, enabling users to manage lighting and shades through voice commands via Sonos speakers. This development allows for hands-free control, enhancing the convenience of smart home automation.
Previously, Caséta users could control Sonos audio functions using Lutron’s Pico audio remote, managing tasks like play, pause, track skipping, and volume adjustments. Additionally, Lutron scenes could synchronize lighting, shades, and music to create cohesive environments. The new integration reverses this interaction, allowing Sonos speakers to control Caséta devices, thereby streamlining the user experience.
To utilize this feature, users need a Lutron Smart Hub and a Sonos speaker equipped with microphone support. Setup is accessible through the Integrations section of the Lutron app. Currently, voice commands for Lutron home-control are available in US English.
This integration signifies a significant advancement in smart home technology, offering users a more intuitive and seamless method to manage their environments. By enabling voice control of lighting and shades through Sonos speakers, Lutron and Sonos are enhancing the accessibility and functionality of home automation systems.
