Lenovo has unveiled the IdeaPad Vibe, a new high-color-value laptop aimed squarely at competing with Apple’s MacBook Neo. Revealed ahead of IFA 2026 during Lenovo Innovation World, the IdeaPad Vibe starts at $699, matching the MacBook Neo’s new pricing post-RAM upgrades. It’s available in two screen sizes—14-inch and 15-inch OLED—and starts at a weight of roughly 2.87 lbs with a thickness of 14.9 mm. Lenovo offers both plastic and metal chassis options.
Stylish design, flexible color choices
The Vibe stands out visually. Lenovo has partnered with Pantone to offer seven distinct color finishes for the metal models: Dreamy Violet, Spicy Gold, Zen Green, Chill Blue, Radiant Coral, Moody Blue, and Lowkey Grey. In addition to its outer shell, the keyboard itself can be personalized via interchangeable keycaps in assorted color combinations.
Ports, webcam & display features
On the connectivity front, the IdeaPad Vibe includes two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, and a micro-SD card reader—no ports sacrificed. A 5MP webcam with physical privacy cover is standard, with optional features such as keyboard backlighting and, for the 15-inch model, a touchscreen.
Performance & configurations
Users can choose between an AMD Ryzen AI 400 processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip. The AMD version supports up to 32 GB RAM, which is user-upgradeable; the Snapdragon model maxes out at 24 GB and does not allow RAM upgrades. Both platform options include dual storage slots reaching up to 1 TB. Lenovo also plans a future Intel-based variant.
The rollout begins in October with the AMD models, while Snapdragon variants arrive in November. Both versions launch at the $699.99 base price.
IdeaCentre AIO I desktop joins the lineup
Lenovo is also introducing the IdeaCentre AIO I desktop in tandem with the Vibe. Scheduled for November release, this all-in-one desktop comes in 24-inch or 27-inch sizes, mirrors many of the Vibe’s color options, and starts around $939.
This announcement lands in the midst of Apple’s price hike for the MacBook Neo, making Lenovo’s timing strategic. The Vibe enters a competitive space as an affordable notebook that doesn’t demand the premium typically charged by Apple.
The takeaway:Lenovo is pushing aggressively into the budget-premium laptop category. With its striking design, thoughtful hardware flexibility, and aggressive launch price, the IdeaPad Vibe may reshape expectations for what a sub-$1,000 ultraportable can offer. For shoppers eyeing the MacBook Neo, the Vibe will be one to weigh carefully—price alone won’t be the only deciding factor, but Lenovo’s gambit raises the bar.
