Tech YouTuber Jon Prosser has formally responded to Apple’s lawsuit accusing him of leaking trade secrets related to iOS 26. In his defense, Prosser asserts his innocence and attributes any alleged wrongdoing to his associate, Michael Ramacciotti.
Apple’s lawsuit, initiated in July 2025, alleges that Prosser and Ramacciotti conspired to obtain confidential information about iOS 26. The company claims that Ramacciotti accessed a development iPhone belonging to Apple employee Ethan Lipnik without authorization and shared details of the unreleased software with Prosser via FaceTime. Prosser subsequently showcased these features in his videos.
In his recent court filing, Prosser denies any involvement in the unauthorized access or dissemination of Apple’s trade secrets. He contends that Ramacciotti acted independently and should bear full responsibility for any resulting harm. Prosser emphasizes that he did not induce Ramacciotti to display the features and was unaware of how Ramacciotti acquired the information.
Prosser also refutes claims that he offered payment in exchange for the leaked information. He acknowledges sharing a portion of the revenue from his YouTube video with Ramacciotti but insists this was to secure exclusivity, not as compensation for the leak. Upon learning the means by which Ramacciotti obtained the information, Prosser states that he ceased communication with him.
Furthermore, Prosser asserts that he was unaware that the iPhone in question belonged to Lipnik and denies any knowledge of Ramacciotti’s presence in Lipnik’s apartment. He also claims ignorance regarding whether the software demonstrated was indeed an unreleased version of iOS 26.
In contrast, Ramacciotti has been cooperating with the courts since at least October 2025, providing Apple with emails, computers, and other materials. His legal team argues that he did not fully comprehend the value and nature of the information he shared with Prosser.
Prosser’s filing requests a jury trial to resolve the matter. Apple has not publicly responded to this latest development.
This case underscores the complexities surrounding information leaks in the tech industry. As companies like Apple strive to protect their intellectual property, individuals involved in disseminating such information may face significant legal challenges. The outcome of this lawsuit could set a precedent for how similar cases are handled in the future.
