iOS 27 Introduces Dual Camera Feature to FaceTime

Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 update brings a significant enhancement to FaceTime with the introduction of the Dual Camera feature, allowing users to simultaneously utilize both front and rear cameras during video calls. This functionality, previously exclusive to the Camera app’s Dual Capture mode on iPhone 17 models, is now integrated into FaceTime.

According to 9to5Mac, the Dual Camera feature will be available on iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air models. Users can activate this mode by tapping the ‘Flip’ button during a FaceTime call, which enables both camera views. A subsequent tap allows users to disable the front camera if desired.

For this feature to function, all participants must be running iOS 27. While older iPhone models won’t support Dual Camera on their end, they will still be able to view the dual camera stream from compatible devices.

This enhancement underscores Apple’s commitment to enriching user experiences by leveraging hardware capabilities to introduce innovative features. The Dual Camera functionality in FaceTime offers a more dynamic and interactive way to communicate, particularly beneficial for demonstrations, tutorials, or sharing real-time experiences.
