Apple has just dropped the first developer beta of iOS 27.3, along with matching iPadOS and macOS updates. Released November 3, 2026, this build rolls out a host of user-facing changes: Safari’s layout and dark mode get overhauled, Siri AI sees broader integration and language support, the Health app is revamped, and several new features arrive for iPhone Duo owners and Watch users. These updates hint strongly at what all users can expect when the update launches publicly, likely in early December.
Safari upgrades, adaptive visuals & smarter Siri
Safari now offers a Vertical Tabs layout across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Tabs shift from a traditional horizontal bar to a sidebar on the left, showing site icons by default (with an option to expand for full titles). The update also introduces Adaptive Dark Mode for sites without built-in dark themes: when Dark Mode is active but you visit a bright site, Safari prompts you to apply a darker appearance. Users can enable this globally or per site.
Siri AI gains more control over everyday tasks. In Safari, it can now close, sort, move, and group tabs, and manage web history (such as clearing data for a particular site and timeframe). Expanded language support includes Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, and Norwegian. Apple also adds developer tools to build custom Siri AI actions, letting apps integrate AI-driven workflows more deeply.
Other tweaks: Health, Duo, StandBy & more
The Health app redesign makes a comeback in this beta. It introduces Longevity and Insights tabs, which track long-term metrics like metabolism, sleep, heart rate, and more. A “Health Age” metric, combining factors like sleep, resting heart rate and biomarkers, shows where your metrics sit relative to your actual age.
For iPhone Duo users, StandBy mode now works system-wide: clock faces on all iPhone models are getting more customization options, with analog, digital, calendar, and weather faces allowing color and complication tweaks. Reachability returns to Duo — this time letting users swipe from edges to shift content horizontally. The Duo’s front keyboard sees layout changes, swapping emoji and number keys and tweaking letter size and spacebar width.
watchOS 27.3 introduces new audio intelligence features for the Apple Watch, including “Siri Recap” and “Live Rewind.” Apple Fitness+ adds a four-week “Gym Strength” plan configurable to workout goals, equipment, and schedule. iPadOS adds Siri Mode in Camera and improved Apple Pencil integration under Visual Intelligence.
What to expect and what to watch
OS 27.3’s developer beta 1 gives a clear preview of Apple’s near-term feature roadmap. The drama around Safari’s vertical tabs and adaptive visuals suggests a move toward a more customizable and cohesive browsing experience across devices. Siri AI is being embedded more deeply into core workflows, especially for new languages and across apps. The Health app overhaul and enhancements to Duo indicate Apple’s continued push for accessibility and individualization.
As beta testing progresses, public releases—including fleshed-out Siri awareness features and further refinements to adaptive visuals—will be key. Watch for official release timing in early December, and keep an eye on how battery life and performance hold up, especially with all these visual changes. For now, iOS 27.3 beta 1 sets the bar high.
