iOS 26.4 Enhances Control Center with Offline Shazam Integration
Apple’s latest iOS 26.4 update introduces a significant enhancement to the Control Center’s Shazam feature, allowing users to identify music tracks even without an internet connection. This advancement ensures that music recognition is uninterrupted, regardless of network availability.
The Shazam integration within the Control Center has long been a favorite among iPhone users for its convenience in identifying songs playing in their surroundings. However, its functionality was previously limited to online use, posing challenges in areas with poor or no connectivity. With iOS 26.4, this limitation is addressed, enabling the feature to operate offline.
According to the official iOS 26.4 release notes, the new functionality is described as follows:
> Offline Music Recognition in Control Center identifies songs without an internet connection and delivers results automatically when you’re back online.
This means that when a user activates the Shazam feature in the Control Center without an internet connection, the device will capture and store the audio data. Once the device reconnects to the internet, Shazam processes the stored data and notifies the user with the song information.
This enhancement is particularly beneficial for users who frequently find themselves in areas with unreliable internet access. It ensures that the opportunity to identify a song is never missed due to connectivity issues.
To utilize this feature, users should ensure that the Shazam control is added to their Control Center. This can be done by navigating to Settings > Control Center, then tapping the ‘+’ icon next to ‘Music Recognition.’ Once added, users can access it by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen and tapping the Shazam icon.
