Incoming CEO John Ternus Commits to Expanding Apple TV’s Success

John Ternus, set to become Apple’s CEO, has expressed his commitment to further developing Apple TV’s offerings. Speaking at the launch event for the fourth season of “Ted Lasso,” Ternus highlighted the platform’s current momentum and the array of compelling content it offers.

Apple TV has experienced significant growth, with original series like “Severance” achieving critical acclaim and expanding into a broader franchise. The acquisition of “Severance” for $70 million underscores Apple’s investment in high-quality, original programming. Additionally, the platform has attracted renowned creators, such as Vince Gilligan, known for “Breaking Bad,” who is developing the new series “Pluribus” for Apple TV.

In the hardware domain, Apple has continued to enhance the Apple TV experience. The introduction of the second-generation Apple TV 4K brought the “Liquid Glass” design, offering a more immersive user interface. This design update, however, is exclusive to newer models, emphasizing Apple’s focus on advancing its hardware capabilities.

Leadership changes within Apple TV have also marked this period of growth. Morgan Wandell, previously Head of International Content Development, departed to establish his own production company, Kismet. Despite his departure, Apple TV’s content strategy remains robust, with plans to develop and produce premium scripted series for a global audience.

As Ternus prepares to assume the CEO role, his dedication to Apple TV signals a strategic emphasis on the platform’s expansion. This commitment suggests that Apple will continue to invest in both content and hardware innovations, aiming to solidify its position in the competitive streaming market.
