iCloud+ Unlocks Bigger AI Perks in iOS 27

With the rollout of iOS 27 this week, Apple has upgraded its iCloud+ plans with expanded benefits tied to its Apple Intelligence suite.

Higher Caps on AI Tasks

Most Apple Intelligence tools—such as image generation—now run under daily usage caps due to their reliance on powerful server-side models. All users can use these features, but those on iCloud+ plans (and Apple One) will see significantly higher limits, making it easier to push the boundaries of what the system can handle day after day. The base $0.99/month plan appears excluded from some of these perks.

Smarter Home Integration

Beyond AI limits, iCloud+ subscribers gain enhancements for HomeKit Secure Video. Cameras that work with this setup can now generate video descriptions driven by AI, allow users to search through clips, and highlight relevant moments automatically. Together, these upgrades make smart home monitoring more intuitive and informed.

Additionally, Apple has broadened access to iCloud+ in many non-U.S. regions—new plans now bundle Apple TV and Apple Arcade at no extra cost.

These improvements are part of Apple’s larger strategy to enrich the Intelligence suite launched with iOS 27. By spacing out feature ceilings and integrating the cloud hub more deeply into user devices and smart home systems, Apple makes paying for iCloud+ feel noticeably more rewarding.

The Bigger Picture
These changes reaffirm Apple’s commitment to AI and cloud-based intelligence. By rewarding iCloud+ users with elevated usage caps and more capable smart home tools, the company is reinforcing the value of its subscription tiers. Going forward, the real test will be how transparent Apple is about plan differences, how compelling the AI experiences are as usage scales, and whether these upgrades will sufficiently drive consumers toward higher-tier cloud subscriptions.
