Honor’s Robot Phone Debuts August 12 with Advanced 200MP Camera System

Honor has officially announced that its highly anticipated Robot Phone will launch on August 12, coinciding with the release of Google’s Pixel 11 series. This innovative device is set to redefine mobile photography with its advanced camera system and professional-grade imaging capabilities.

The Robot Phone features a triple rear camera setup designed to cater to a wide range of photographic needs. The centerpiece is a 200-megapixel main sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size and an f/1.6 aperture, mounted on a three-axis gimbal for enhanced stability and motion tracking. Complementing this are a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, providing versatility for various shooting scenarios.

To power these sophisticated imaging components, Honor has developed a custom imaging chip named the Yuguang H1. This chip works in tandem with the gimbal motor, which weighs just 2.6 grams, to deliver smooth and precise motion, even in dynamic environments. This integration aims to provide users with professional-level photography and videography experiences directly from their smartphones.

In collaboration with German cinema equipment manufacturer ARRI, Honor is bringing professional cinema workflows to the mobile platform. The Robot Phone supports ARRI’s LogC3 encoding, Wide Gamut 3 color space, and ARRI Looks, enabling users to capture footage with greater flexibility and creative control. These features are designed to preserve more brightness and color information for post-production, offering a broader color space and the ability to apply controlled cinematic styles.

Pre-orders for the Robot Phone are now open on Honor’s official website. Interested buyers can secure early access by paying a 500 yuan deposit, which unlocks a special purchase channel. However, this deposit does not guarantee a specific color or storage option. Once the order confirmation period begins, deposit holders can select their preferred version, and upon confirmation, must pay the remaining balance within 24 hours. Due to limited supply, orders will be fulfilled in the sequence that payments are completed.

The Robot Phone will be available in two color options: Star Trail Silver and Moon Shadow Gray. It offers two storage configurations: 12GB RAM with 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM with 1TB storage, catering to users with varying storage needs.

Honor’s strategic partnership with ARRI and the integration of advanced imaging technologies position the Robot Phone as a significant contender in the smartphone market. By offering professional-grade photography and videography tools in a mobile device, Honor is challenging traditional notions of smartphone capabilities and setting new standards for mobile imaging.

As the August 12 launch date approaches, the tech community eagerly anticipates how the Robot Phone will perform in real-world scenarios and how it will compare to other flagship devices releasing around the same time. This launch marks a pivotal moment for Honor as it continues to innovate and push the boundaries of smartphone technology.
