Recent findings in the macOS 26.7 beta have unveiled significant details about Apple’s upcoming smart home device, the HomePad. This device is anticipated to function similarly to a large Apple Watch, offering a customizable interface with features reminiscent of watchOS.
The HomePad is expected to operate on a variant of tvOS, yet its user interface will diverge notably from existing Apple TV or HomePod systems. The code references a home screen featuring ‘Faces’ and a ‘Face Gallery,’ akin to the watch faces on the Apple Watch. Users will have the ability to personalize these faces with various widgets and Smart Stacks, which dynamically display different widgets throughout the day based on user activity and preferences.
Privacy considerations are also integrated into the HomePad’s design. The device is programmed to display personal information within widgets only when it detects the user’s iPhone in proximity. This ensures that sensitive data remains confidential and is accessible solely to the intended user.
Two versions of the HomePad are reportedly in development. One model will feature a speaker base, resembling the current HomePod design, while the other is designed for wall mounting, catering to different user preferences and home setups.
In addition to the HomePad, the macOS 26.7 beta code includes references to other forthcoming Apple home products. These include a new HomePod mini, a security camera, and an updated Siri remote for the next-generation Apple TV 4K. There are also mentions of unidentified devices, sparking speculation about potential new additions to Apple’s smart home lineup.
