Google Wallet has introduced a new feature that allows users to enroll in TSA PreCheck’s Touchless ID directly through the app, streamlining the airport security process for eligible travelers.
Touchless ID is an enhancement to the TSA PreCheck program, enabling passengers to pass through security checkpoints without the need to present physical identification. This system leverages digital credentials to verify a traveler’s identity, aiming to expedite the screening process and reduce physical contact.
To utilize this feature, users must first add their boarding pass to Google Wallet and ensure they are approved for TSA PreCheck. Additionally, creating a local ID Pass within the app is necessary. Once these steps are completed, an option to opt into Touchless ID will appear on the boarding pass within Google Wallet.
The verification process for Touchless ID is managed outside of the Google Wallet app. However, integrating the enrollment option within Google Wallet simplifies the process for users, eliminating the need to navigate through airline-specific applications or websites. Upon successful enrollment and TSA approval, a badge indicating Touchless ID status will be displayed on the digital boarding pass, providing clear confirmation for travelers.
