Google has begun deploying its ‘Tap to Share’ feature to Pixel 6 and newer devices, enhancing the Quick Share functionality with a more intuitive sharing method. This feature allows users to share contact information, photos, videos, and other media by simply bringing two compatible Android devices close together.
To share contact details, users can bring their unlocked Pixel device near another compatible Android device, facilitating an instant, two-way exchange. For sharing media files, users need to open the system Share sheet on their device and then tap the devices together. This streamlined process aims to make sharing content between devices more seamless and user-friendly.
The rollout of ‘Tap to Share’ is not limited to Google’s Pixel lineup. Following its availability on Pixel 6 and newer models, the feature is set to expand to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8. Google has announced plans to extend this functionality to more Android devices by the end of the year, indicating a broader adoption across the Android ecosystem.
