Google Home Speaker Enhances Google TV Streamer with Spatial Audio

Google has introduced the Google Home Speaker, a $99.99 device designed to integrate seamlessly with the Google TV Streamer, offering users an enhanced audio experience. This new speaker aims to provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional soundbars, which can often be more expensive.

Setting up the Google Home Speaker with the Google TV Streamer is straightforward. Upon powering both devices, the TV screen prompts users to pair the speakers. The setup process includes selecting left and right channels and adjusting synchronization to ensure optimal audio performance. Users can also enable spatial audio by specifying the distance between the speakers and their seating area, enhancing the immersive sound experience.

In terms of design, the Google Home Speaker features a compact form factor with a yarn-covered exterior, except for the base, which houses a light ring indicating various statuses such as listening, thinking, or responding. The device measures 4.2 inches in diameter and 3.4 inches in height, making it suitable for various home settings. It includes three far-field microphones with a physical mute switch for privacy and capacitive touch controls on the top surface for volume adjustment and playback control.

Audio performance is a significant focus of the Google Home Speaker. It delivers balanced 360-degree sound, with a 58 mm driver that is twice the size of the one found in the Nest Mini, resulting in 2.5 times stronger bass. While the sound quality is commendable, it may not match that of high-end soundbars. However, when two Google Home Speakers are paired with the Google TV Streamer, they provide a spatial surround-sound experience that enhances movie and music playback.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.4, and Thread 1.3 border router support. The device is powered by a quad-core 2.0 GHz A55 processor with an AI accelerator, accompanied by 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. The non-detachable power cable is 1.5 meters long and connects via USB-C to the included 30W power adapter.

The Google Home Speaker is available in four colors: Porcelain and Hazel are offered worldwide, while Jade and Berry are exclusive to the U.S. Google Store. Pre-orders began on June 17, 2026, with the device hitting store shelves on June 25 in 18 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and several European and Asia-Pacific nations.

For users seeking an affordable and user-friendly audio solution for their Google TV Streamer, the Google Home Speaker presents a compelling option. Its ease of setup, integration with Google’s ecosystem, and spatial audio capabilities make it a noteworthy addition to the home entertainment landscape. While it may not replace high-end sound systems, it offers a significant improvement over standard TV speakers and serves as a versatile component in a smart home setup.
