Google Chrome for Android is rolling out a significant redesign that introduces a dual-bar interface, featuring a dedicated Gemini button in the navigation bar. This update aims to enhance user accessibility and integrate Google’s AI capabilities directly into the browsing experience.
Previously, Chrome for Android allowed users to position the address bar at the bottom of the screen, improving reachability on larger devices. The new design builds upon this by implementing two distinct bars: the top bar houses the URL field, share button, back button, and overflow menu, while the bottom bar includes options for opening a new tab, managing existing tabs, and a prominent Gemini shortcut.
The Gemini button provides users with direct access to Google’s AI assistant, enabling functionalities such as summarizing web pages, answering questions about the current content, and performing tasks like adding events to Google Calendar or saving information to Google Keep. This integration is part of Google’s broader initiative to embed AI tools seamlessly into its ecosystem.
