Google AI Mode Enhances Travel Planning with Local Product Checks and Hotel Price Alerts

Google’s AI Mode Now Locates In-Stock Products Nearby and Tracks Hotel Prices

Google has unveiled enhancements to its AI Mode, aiming to streamline summer travel planning by introducing two key features:

1. Local Product Availability: AI Mode can now contact nearby stores to verify the availability of specific items. For instance, if you’ve forgotten your prescription sunglasses and need clip-on polarized ones that fit over your current glasses, you can describe your requirement to AI Mode. The system will then reach out to local retailers and provide you with details on where to find the product. This functionality, initially launched directly on Search in November, is now being integrated into AI Mode across the United States.

2. Hotel Price Tracking: Users can now monitor price fluctuations for specific hotels directly within Search. By searching for a hotel by name on desktop and activating the new price-tracking toggle, or by selecting the option under the Prices tab on mobile, you can receive email alerts if the price changes during your selected dates. Previously, this feature was limited to city-level tracking.

In addition to these updates, Google shared insights into trending travel destinations and search behaviors:

– Top Trending Destinations for Summer 2026: Internationally, St. Maarten and Stockholm are gaining popularity. Domestically, Kansas City, Missouri, and Sarasota, Florida, are trending on Google Flights.

– Surge in AI-Related Travel Searches: Over the past year, interest in terms like AI travel assistant and AI concierge has increased by 350%. Queries such as how to use AI to find flight deals have emerged as trending topics in the past month, and searches for AI flight booking have risen by 315%.

These enhancements reflect Google’s commitment to integrating AI into everyday tasks, making travel planning more efficient and personalized.
