AppleLaunches AppleCare One Family: New Plan Covers All Eligible Devices for $49.99/Month

Apple has introduced AppleCare One Family, a new subscription plan now available for customers in the United States. For a flat rate of $49.99 per month, this plan extends protection across eligible Apple devices used by up to six family members via Family Sharing. Coverage mirrors that of AppleCare+ and includes safeguards against accidental damage, theft, and loss for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch devices.

What’s Included and How It Works

Devices already covered under any AppleCare plan at the time of enrollment, along with those bought within the past 60 days, are automatically integrated into the new family plan. For devices older than that—up to four years old for most products, or one year for AirPods and Beats—customers can also add them, subject to a condition check confirming the device is in good working order. If a device fails that check, it cannot be included.

There’s no strict limit on how many devices a family can add—only six Vision Pro headsets are allowed. Once devices join the plan, they stay covered so long as the subscription remains active. Apple requires each device to connect to Apple’s servers at least annually, and reserves the right to remove coverage if replacement parts become unavailable.

Eligibility, Payment & Relation to Existing Plans

The plan is limited to users in the U.S., and all devices must be tied to a family member’s Apple account. Signing out of the tied account or signing in with a non-family account ends coverage for that device. Any adult in the Family Sharing group can initiate the plan. Although payments typically go through the family organizer when Purchase Sharing is enabled, Apple allows an alternate payment method.

This new family-wide option joins Apple’s existing AppleCare One plan—introduced in July 2025—for individual users. The original plan covers three devices at $19.99/month, with extra devices available at about $5.99/month each.

AppleCare One Familyaims to simplify protection for households with multiple devices, consolidating coverage under one umbrella. It ensures consistent protection and predictable costs across multiple Apple products—especially useful for homes with many iPhones, iPads, or Apple Watches in use.

My take:This move fills a long-standing gap in Apple’s protection plans—until now, households had to juggle multiple plans or add-ons to cover all their gadgets. Families who value peace of mind—device safety, loss coverage and streamlined billing—will find real value here. Worth keeping an eye on: how Apple handles device repairs and theft claims under this broad coverage, and whether pricing will vary outside the U.S. down the line.
