Apple Watch Series 12 & Ultra 4 Gain Two Smart Features in Early 2026

Apple is gearing up to enhance the utility of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 with two new audio-intelligence features—Siri Recap and Live Rewind—expected later this year as part of watchOS 27.3. These additions aim to build on Apple’s growing emphasis on on-device AI and improved accessibility for wearable users.

Siri Recap: Daily Memory Summaries

Siri Recap is designed to unobtrusively monitor your conversations throughout the day and compile high-level summaries generated by Apple Intelligence. The goal is to help users jog their memory without being tethered to every detail. These summaries are temporary if not saved: persistently created but auto-deleted after seven days unless you explicitly keep them. Apple has published a white paper outlining the privacy protections governing Recap.

Live Rewind: Capture What You Missed, Instantly

Live Rewind gives wearers a way to revisit what they’ve just missed (within roughly 15 seconds). By double-pressing the Digital Crown, the watch displays a brief text snippet of recent speech. Users can then ask Siri about that snippet’s content or save it directly to the Siri app. Like Siri Recap, this feature emphasizes strong privacy guarantees as detailed in Apple’s documentation.

Both Siri Recap and Live Rewind are slated to arrive with the watchOS 27.3 update, which is expected to enter beta testing very soon. These will be native functions on the latest Apple Watch models—Series 12 and Ultra 4.

Apple’s dual announcements continue its push forward in integrating ambient intelligence and voice interfaces into wearables. Siri Recap and Live Rewind reinforce the idea that smartwatches are shifting from reactive devices into memory-assisting companions. But the success of these features will depend heavily on how intuitively they work and how transparently privacy is managed.
