At WWDC 2026, Apple introduced ‘Siri AI,’ a major overhaul of its virtual assistant, featuring advanced conversational capabilities, deeper system integration, and a redesigned interface across devices.
Apple acknowledged that users sometimes expect more from Siri and described the update as creating ‘a profoundly more capable assistant’ capable of multi-turn conversations, accessing real-time information, and interacting with personal data across apps.
Siri is now integrated directly into the Dynamic Island, accessible by swiping down from it, pressing the side button, or saying ‘Hey Siri.’ A revamped voice engine offers a more expressive assistant, with customizable voice settings available during initial setup.
During the keynote, Apple demonstrated Siri handling complex, multi-step requests. For example, when asked about a Suki Waterhouse concert, Siri informed the user about a ticket lottery and set a reminder for when it opens. In another instance, Siri identified a landmark in a photo, provided navigation to the location, and added a specific image to a shared family album upon request.
Another demonstration showcased Siri’s ability to synthesize information across apps. A user inquired about a dessert mentioned at an event, and Siri retrieved relevant details from Messages history, compiled a watch-party menu, drafted a message to contacts, and presented options to send or edit the message. Additionally, Siri composed an email based on a topic shared by the user’s son in a message.
A new dedicated Siri app allows users to review past conversations and initiate new ones, with conversation history synced via iCloud for seamless transitions between devices. The app is also available on watchOS. On Mac, Siri is integrated into Spotlight and accessible via right-click context menus on any file or window. In visionOS, Siri AI features a 3D visualization that users can place anywhere in their space.
These enhancements position Siri AI as a more versatile and intuitive assistant, aiming to provide a more personalized and efficient user experience across Apple’s ecosystem.
