Apple Unveils AI-Powered Siri Overhaul at WWDC 2026

At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, Apple introduced a significant update to its voice assistant, rebranding it as ‘Siri AI.’ This overhaul aims to transform Siri from a basic voice-controlled assistant into a comprehensive AI companion.

The revamped Siri AI is designed to provide more natural and context-aware interactions. It can now access real-time world knowledge and utilize on-device information to deliver more relevant responses. For instance, when users inquire about information, Siri will present text cards with results, including web data or details from text messages.

Apple has also redesigned Siri’s interface for modern iPhones. Instead of the current screen glow when activated, the new Siri features an animation within the Dynamic Island. Users can engage with Siri by swiping down from the Dynamic Island, using the side button, or saying ‘Hey Siri.’

A notable addition is the ‘Write with Siri’ feature, which assists users in composing text. Integrated into apps like Mail and Messages, this tool adapts to the user’s communication style. For example, if a user typically sends concise emails to a manager, Siri will draft messages in a similar tone.

Furthermore, Siri AI introduces a new voice experience with customizable pace and expressiveness. System-wide dictation has been enhanced for greater accuracy, improving spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.

On macOS, Siri is now integrated into Spotlight, allowing users to access the assistant from anywhere on their device. On watchOS, users can ask questions and perform actions directly from their Apple Watch.

Apple’s unveiling of Siri AI signifies a strategic move to compete with other AI platforms like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. By enhancing Siri’s capabilities and integrating it more deeply into the Apple ecosystem, the company aims to offer a more seamless and intelligent user experience.
