Apple Raises M4 Pro Mac Mini Price Amid Rising Memory Costs

Apple has increased the starting price of the Mac mini equipped with the M4 Pro chip by $200, bringing the base model to $1,599 on its online store. This adjustment reflects the company’s response to escalating memory and storage component costs driven by the rapid expansion of AI data centers.

Initially launched in October 2024 at $1,399, the M4 Pro Mac mini has seen its price rise due to these industry-wide cost pressures. In May, Apple had already raised the Mac mini’s effective starting price by discontinuing the $599 configuration with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, leaving the $799 model with a 512GB SSD as the new entry-level option.

Apple stated, “We have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices. We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly.”

Alongside the Mac mini, Apple has adjusted prices across its product lineup, with Mac computers seeing increases of approximately 15% to 20% and iPads rising by 15% to 25%. These changes occurred after a brief downtime of the online store, during which no other modifications were made to the site.

These price adjustments highlight the broader impact of supply chain challenges and increased demand for memory components in the tech industry. Consumers should be aware of potential further price fluctuations as companies navigate these ongoing issues.
