Apple has expanded its refurbished product lineup by adding the iPhone 16e to its online store in the United States. This move provides consumers with a more affordable option to own an iPhone, with prices starting at $419 for the 128GB model—a $180 reduction from its original retail price.
The iPhone 16e, initially released in February 2025, was discontinued following the launch of the iPhone 17e. As a result, new units are no longer available directly from Apple. The refurbished models come in both black and white color options, with the 256GB variant priced at $509 and the 512GB version at $679.
While the iPhone 16e offers significant savings, it’s important to note some differences compared to the newer iPhone 17e. The 16e lacks MagSafe charging capabilities, is equipped with the C1 modem instead of the faster C1X, starts with 128GB of storage rather than 256GB, features the older A18 chip, and utilizes the original Ceramic Shield glass instead of the updated Ceramic Shield 2.
Apple’s refurbished iPhones are unlocked, allowing compatibility with any carrier. Each device undergoes a comprehensive refurbishment process, including the replacement of the battery and outer shell, ensuring they meet Apple’s quality standards. These devices are virtually indistinguishable from new ones and come with a one-year warranty, with the option to purchase extended AppleCare+ coverage.
