Two weeks after the debut of the iPhone Duo, Apple is already seeing a strong wave of developer support. The company reports there are “well over 100,000 apps” currently live on the App Store built or optimized for the foldable Duo. On top of that, thousands of new apps are being updated for the device on a daily basis.
Apple’s VP of Worldwide Developer Relations said more than 2,000 developers have participated in 50+ in-person workshops around the globe just this past month. These hands-on sessions, held across 19 cities, have given developers direct exposure to the iPhone Duo and helped speed up the flow of optimized apps to users.
How Apple Is Highlighting Duo-Ready Apps
Alongside supporting developer efforts, Apple is promoting applications made for the Duo through curated sections in the App Store. Featured categories such as “Popular Apps on iPhone Duo” and “Great Games on iPhone Duo” are spotlighting early wins. There’s also a “Made for iPhone Duo” badge to help users identify apps specifically built or optimized for the foldable’s dual-screen features.
Some of the prominent apps already compatible with the Duo include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, Etsy, and Halide Mark III. These early adopters show interest across productivity, communication, retail, and photo-editing tools.
This rapid growth in Duo-ready software comes amid wider anticipation among observers around how well Apple can establish its place in the foldable smartphone market. While traditional devices have long focused on single screens, foldables open up new UI, multitasking, and interaction possibilities—and developers are moving fast to make the most of them.
What this means: The strong early uptake of apps optimized for the iPhone Duo suggests Apple’s strategies—workshops, curated storefronts, and visible badges—are working to drive attention from developers and users. But for Duo to succeed long-term, the challenge will be maintaining momentum: ensuring apps don’t just work, but delight on foldable hardware, and keeping that level of innovation going as more developers join the fold.
