Apple has recently acquired PlasmaSolve, a Czech materials science company specializing in plasma simulation software. This acquisition, disclosed in a notice published by the European Commission, involves Apple obtaining all issued shares of PlasmaSolve and extending employment offers to its staff.
Established in 2016, PlasmaSolve has developed tools to assist manufacturers in designing and optimizing plasma-based manufacturing processes. Their flagship product, MatSight, is a suite of applications that simulate outcomes of vapor deposition processes for metals. This technology has been instrumental in creating durable thin films on various iPhone models, enhancing resistance to scratches and damage.
Apple’s acquisition of PlasmaSolve underscores its commitment to advancing manufacturing technologies. By integrating PlasmaSolve’s expertise, Apple aims to refine its production processes, potentially leading to more durable and high-quality products. This move aligns with Apple’s strategy of acquiring specialized firms to bolster its technological capabilities and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
