Anthropic’s Claude Tag Enhances Slack with AI Teammate

Anthropic has unveiled Claude Tag, an AI assistant designed to integrate seamlessly into Slack, offering continuous support and collaboration within team channels. This feature is currently in research preview and is accessible to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team subscribers.

Building upon previous integrations, Claude Tag allows users to mention @Claude in conversations to receive insights and delegate tasks. Unlike earlier versions, Claude Tag maintains persistent context and memory, enabling it to learn and adapt to ongoing projects. With appropriate permissions, it can also gather information from other channels within the organization.

Each Slack channel can have a dedicated Claude identity, ensuring that all team members can view and continue interactions with Claude without redundancy. Administrators have control over Claude’s access, specifying which tools, information, and channels it can interact with, thereby maintaining data security and relevance.

When assigned tasks, Claude Tag decomposes them into manageable stages, utilizing available tools to complete each step and providing updates within the Slack thread. Additionally, its ambient mode proactively offers updates, highlights pertinent information from across the organization, and follows up on pending tasks, enhancing team productivity.

This development reflects a broader trend in enterprise AI, where context-aware assistants are becoming integral to workplace tools. Companies like Microsoft, Snowflake, and Databricks are also advancing in this space, aiming to embed AI deeply into organizational workflows.

By introducing Claude Tag, Anthropic is positioning itself at the forefront of this evolution, offering a solution that not only responds to user prompts but also actively contributes to team dynamics, potentially transforming how teams collaborate and manage information within Slack.
