Android Canary 2608 Introduces Customizable Quick Settings Layout on Pixel Devices

Google has released Android Canary 2608, introducing a new feature that allows Pixel users to customize the layout of the Quick Settings panel. This update, identified as build ZP11.260717.006, includes the August 2026 security patch and is available for a range of Pixel devices, including the Pixel 10 series, Pixel 9 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 6 series, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet.

Notably, this release marks the final Canary build for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Users of these devices are advised to transition to stable production releases by flashing the most recent production build, which will require a data wipe.

Customizing Quick Settings Layout

With this update, users can personalize the arrangement of elements within the Quick Settings panel. By tapping the pencil icon located in the corner of the Quick Settings menu, a new “Layout” tab appears at the bottom of the screen. This feature enables users to reorder components such as the Brightness bar, Quick Settings tiles, and the Media player. There are six possible configurations available, allowing for a tailored user experience.

While this customization option is new to Pixel devices, similar features have been available on devices from other manufacturers, offering users greater control over their device’s interface.

It’s important to note that Canary builds are highly experimental and not recommended for general use. Users should proceed with caution when installing these updates.

The introduction of customizable Quick Settings layouts reflects Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance user personalization and interface flexibility. As mobile operating systems evolve, providing users with the ability to tailor their device’s interface to their preferences becomes increasingly important. This update positions Pixel devices more competitively by aligning with customization options already offered by other manufacturers.
