Google has released Beta 4 of Android 17 QPR2 for Pixel devices, introducing numerous fixes and officially marking the build as Platform Stable. A rollout started on August 28, 2026, though the Pixel 11 lineup isn’t compatible yet—with support promised soon.
What’s new in Beta 4
This latest update tackles a long list of bugs across Pixel devices. Fixes include eliminating a problem where activating the developer option “render apps below the cutout area” could lead to a transparent status bar after exiting full-screen video. Overheating that triggered unexpected reboots has been addressed, as has the issue blocking screen mirroring via USB-C XR glasses.
Gesture navigation has been made responsive again when using apps below the display cutout. Improvements have been made to address the “80% battery limit” feature, which previously caused excessive charging times in the last few percentage points. The app drawer search function has been corrected to allow text input as intended. Other fixes resolve visual and interface glitches: a missing blur effect in the power menu, default call audio instead of Bluetooth output, a freezing “Recents” task card, microphone lock during screen recording, and hard-to-see icons in dark mode, among others.
Beta 4 also fixes functionality where enabling 3D mode on connected smart glasses resulted in blank displays. Users who had trouble pulling down the notification bar are covered, as well as those encountering issues when locking the screen or seeing misplaced animations in System UI. A memory leak in WebGL apps tied to the PowerVR GPU driver, and Face Unlock failures under low light that forced PINs instead, have also been squashed.
Eligible devices and rollout details
The update patch CP41.260814.003.A2 is now available for Pixel 6a; Pixel 7, for all variants including Pro and a; Pixel 8 lineup; Pixel 9 and its variants; Pixel 10 series including Fold and Pro models; the Pixel Fold itself; and Pixel Tablet. The Android Emulator also supports this build. The Pixel 11 family is slated to receive the update under CP41.260814.003.C2 soon.
Enrollment through the Android Beta Program allows users to receive the OTA release. As usual, feedback can be submitted through the device’s Beta Feedback app or via Google’s issue tracker.
