macOS Golden Gate introduces several design enhancements aimed at improving user experience. The Liquid Glass interface now offers adjustable opacity to enhance readability, complemented by a new slider for transparency control. Shadowing adjustments have been made to help users more easily identify active windows. Additionally, applications now feature uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and less rounded corners, with a reduction in menu bar icons for a cleaner interface.
A significant transformation in this update is the evolution of Siri into a more advanced AI assistant. Integrated within Spotlight, Siri AI combines general knowledge, personal data, and on-screen context to provide comprehensive answers and information. Users can interact with Siri AI through the new Search or Ask interface. A dedicated Siri app allows for ongoing conversations and access to past interactions. On newer Mac models, users have the option to customize Siri’s voice, adjusting pace and expressiveness to their preference. The Visual Intelligence feature enables Siri to analyze on-screen content and respond to related queries, while the Write with Siri function assists in generating text or offering feedback on writing.
macOS Golden Gate also brings AI-driven enhancements to various applications. The Photos app now includes AI-powered editing tools, Safari benefits from AI-assisted tab organization, and the Passwords app offers an AI feature to automatically update weak passwords. The Image Playground app has been revamped to generate photorealistic images, showcasing the integration of AI across the operating system.
