GM Expands Android Automotive with 200+ New Apps, Including YouTube

General Motors (GM) has significantly enhanced the in-car entertainment experience for its vehicles equipped with Google built-in, introducing over 200 new applications to the Android Automotive platform. This expansion includes popular streaming services such as YouTube, Disney+, and Hulu, accessible directly from the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Unlike many vehicles that rely on smartphone integration through platforms like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, GM has transitioned to a system that depends solely on its built-in infotainment system. This shift means that drivers and passengers can access a wide array of apps without the need for a connected smartphone.

The newly added applications are available on the central display of the vehicle. For select models, these apps can also be accessed on rear-seat entertainment screens, providing a personalized experience for each passenger. This feature is particularly beneficial for families and long road trips, allowing passengers to enjoy their preferred content independently.

The following 2025 and newer GM models are compatible with these new applications:

  • Chevrolet: Tahoe and Suburban
  • Cadillac: Escalade, ESCALADE IQ, ESCALADE IQL, and CELESTIQ
  • GMC: Yukon and Yukon XL

In addition to streaming services, GM plans to introduce support for audio applications such as Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, and Spotify on rear-seat screens in the near future. This expansion aims to provide a comprehensive entertainment experience for all occupants.
