Arkansas Introduces Digital Driver’s Licenses for Apple Wallet Integration

Arkansas Residents Can Now Add Driver’s Licenses to Apple Wallet for Digital Access

Arkansas residents can now integrate their driver’s licenses and state IDs into Apple Wallet, enabling digital access via iPhone and Apple Watch. This advancement offers a convenient and secure method for carrying identification, complementing the traditional physical cards.

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration has officially announced the rollout of this feature. Eligible users can add their driver’s license or state ID directly to the Wallet app on their iPhone. If the feature isn’t immediately visible, users may need to force-close and reopen the Wallet app to activate it.

How to Add Your ID to Apple Wallet:

Apple has streamlined the setup process, allowing users to add their ID in a few simple steps:

1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
2. Tap the + button located in the top-right corner.
3. Select Driver’s License or State ID from the available options.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the identity verification process.
5. Once verified, your ID will be added to the Wallet app. If desired, you can also sync it with your Apple Watch for added convenience.

After adding your ID, you can use it at supported Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints and participating businesses, apps, and websites that accept Apple Wallet identification.

States Supporting Apple Wallet IDs:

With Arkansas joining the initiative, the list of regions supporting Apple Wallet IDs now includes:

– Arizona
– California
– Colorado
– Georgia
– Hawaii
– Illinois
– Iowa
– Maryland
– Montana
– New Mexico
– North Dakota
– Ohio
– Puerto Rico
– West Virginia

It’s important to note that while the digital ID offers a convenient alternative, it does not replace the physical driver’s license or identification card. Residents are advised to carry their original physical ID alongside the digital version to ensure compliance with all identification requirements.
