X Introduces 4K Video Uploads to Enhance User Experience

In a significant move to bolster its video content capabilities, X has begun rolling out support for 4K video uploads. This feature is currently available to select creators and is expected to be accessible to all premium subscribers in the near future. The initiative aims to enhance user engagement and deter audiences from migrating to platforms like YouTube or Vimeo for high-resolution video content.

Previously, X allowed paying subscribers to upload videos in 1080p resolution, with a maximum file size of 8GB and a duration of up to three hours. The introduction of 4K uploads may prompt adjustments to these limitations to accommodate the larger file sizes associated with higher-resolution videos.

Since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the company, X has been actively encouraging users to share more video content. The platform has incrementally increased upload limits for subscribers and, earlier this year, launched a dedicated feed for vertical videos. This feed, complete with a shortcut on the mobile app’s homepage, seeks to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s potential ban in the U.S.

The addition of 4K video support is a strategic effort by X to attract content creators who prioritize high-quality visuals. By offering superior video capabilities, X aims to position itself as a competitive platform for creators seeking to share premium content.

As X continues to evolve its features, the platform is poised to become a more attractive destination for both creators and viewers seeking high-quality video content.
