WhatsApp Web Introduces Audio and Video Calling with Call Transfer

WhatsApp has expanded its web client capabilities by introducing audio and video calling features, including support for call transfers. This enhancement allows users to initiate and receive both one-on-one and group calls directly through their web browsers, aligning the web experience more closely with the mobile and desktop applications.

Previously, WhatsApp Web users were limited to messaging functionalities, with voice and video calls confined to the mobile app and desktop versions. The recent update bridges this gap, enabling seamless communication across devices without the need for additional software installations.

A notable addition is the call transfer feature, which permits users to move ongoing calls between devices and the web client without interruption. This functionality ensures continuity, allowing users to switch platforms mid-call effortlessly.

Furthermore, WhatsApp has introduced a waiting room option for web-based calls. Hosts can now manage participant entry by enabling the “Require approval to join” setting, providing greater control over call participation.

To enhance user experience, WhatsApp has improved its QuickHD feature, ensuring high-definition video quality from the onset of a call. Combined with recent in-call controls like Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum on iPhone, these updates aim to deliver superior call quality across all platforms.

These developments signify WhatsApp’s commitment to providing a unified and versatile communication platform. By extending robust calling features to the web client, WhatsApp caters to users who prefer browser-based interactions, offering flexibility and convenience without compromising on functionality.
