Spotify has unveiled two new features aimed at enhancing user engagement and personalization: ‘User Notes’ and ‘Running Mode’.
User Notes
The ‘User Notes’ feature allows users to add personal annotations to tracks within their library and playlists. These notes appear beneath each track and are visible to others when the playlist is shared. This functionality is available to both free and Premium users aged 16 and above in select markets.
Running Mode
‘Running Mode’ is designed to tailor music playback to the user’s workout intensity and preferences. Users can customize parameters such as workout type (e.g., interval, steady, pyramid), duration, beats per minute (BPM), and music genre. The app then generates playlists that align with these settings. Additionally, optional audio cues can guide users through their runs. Initially, ‘Running Mode’ was exclusive to iOS users in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. As of August 18, 2026, the feature is rolling out to Android users in these regions.
These updates reflect Spotify’s commitment to providing a more personalized and interactive listening experience. By integrating features that cater to individual preferences and activities, Spotify continues to solidify its position as a leading music streaming service.
